Behrooz M. Quartet
Behrooz Mihankhah’s Quartet is an ensemble of exceptionally talented composers and improvisers. With Ali Enriquez (Violin), John Janigan-Mills (Bass), and Morgan Zwicker (Drums), each member of the group breathes life into Behrooz’s compositions, making them uniquely their own. Together, they create music that transcends borders, and resonates with audiences from all walks of life.
Ali Enriquez is a Cuban-Canadian multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Born in Havana, Cuba, her culture is deeply rooted in Cuban music, classical, and jazz. Has been part of and soloed in many ensembles including jazz bands, symphony orchestras, jazz and classical chamber ensembles, and has performed in festivals in Cuba, Canada, and Italy. Her recent single “Se Vale Llorar” is a mix of these styles, written and produced by the artist. Among her upcoming performances she will be at Halifax’s The Music Room in October as part of the Prismatic Arts 2024 series.
Morgan Zwicker is a drummer and composer based in Nova Scotia. Morgan studied jazz performance at Humber College and has performed and recorded with a variety of acts across Canada in numerous genres spanning from jazz to punk-rock. He released an album with his jazz quartet entitled “Phase Shift” in 2021 with LA-based label World Galaxy / Alpha Pup and continues to compose and perform regularly. Morgan is sponsored by Dream Cymbals and Los Cabos Drumsticks.
John Janigan-Mills is a multi-faceted human engaging in sound, art, technology, and infinite permutations thereof. A student of minds diverse as Barry Harris to Alan Turing, he is dedicated to the unmasking and generation of creativity through the discovery and bridging of hidden worlds between man and machine.
